Murraywood Construction takes on new social values project in Blackpool

After we found out the Donna’s Dream House charity was based right outside the Blackpool Multi-Storey Car Park site, we knew we wanted to do something to help.

The charity is a holiday home for children and teenagers with life threatening and terminal illnesses to visit with their families to take a break from hospital and treatment or to spend their remaining days making memories by the beach.

We went to visit the holiday home and discovered their car park needed some attention which we wanted to help with.

This isn’t something we were told to do, it’s something we felt had to be done to give back to the local community, like we strive to do on every site we complete works on.

In the summer of 2022, some volunteers reduce levelled the footpath area and did the formwork shutters for the concrete slab before Murraywood Construction installed steel reinforcement and supplied concrete with a float finish and a brush affect to stop slips, trips and falls in the winter.

Apprentice bricklayers from the local college are going to build a brick wall to stop people from parking to block the pedestrian footpath.

We are set to go back in the spring of 2023 to jet wash the area and re-brush kiln dried sand.
