Overview

Lytham St Annes High School is the largest school on the Fylde coast and underwent an environmentally innovative revamp.

The building is net-carbon-zero, as it’s the first scheme as part of the Government’s School Rebuilding Programme to reach the construction phase.

The new two storey block and sports hall which Murraywood Construction have supplied, delivered and installed the groundworks, drainage and external services on, makes use of passive ventilation chimneys, mechanical heat recovery systems and on-site offsetting of energy use through a bisolar roof system.

This government project was launched in order to carry out major rebuilding and refurbishment at schools and sixth forms across the country, with buildings to be prioritised dependent on their condition and Lytham St Annes High School was part of the first 50 schools in this programme to be announced.

What are we doing?

On this project we have been appointed to supply, deliver and install the groundworks, drainage and external services.

Therefore, we will be completing formwork, foundation excavation and construction, pile caps and ground beams including backfilling and putting in reinforced concrete substructures.

We will also be carrying out a reduced level dig, constructing ground floor slabs and installing foul and surface water drainage.

Additionally, we are going to do the insulation, damp proofing and waterproofing of membranes to the ground floor slab.
