I started working for Murraywood Construction in August of 2019, since that date I have been a part of 3 sites ranging for domestic, commercial to industrial, learnt how to read and process drawings, draw using CADD software (both Autocad and Revit), use a Leica TS16, set out all different aspects of a job ranging from slabs to drainage, ducting to steel columns, each site has taken me through different aspects of construction from start to finish and given me a start of a skillset which will enable me to progress through my career.
Murraywood have ensured I work with and mentor by experienced Engineers each one with differing techniques and skill sets, started with Mark Whittle & Mike Smith, working on a prestigious project for 5 months before moving to work with Nick Townson, again on very differing projects, presenting different experience and challenges. Working on these projects has also given me access to other Companies Engineers (Dan Regan & Tom Hunt) who were only too happy pass on their knowledge and experience with regards to setting up internal works and gridlines. Working with experienced Engineers, Site Managers and Groundworkers really helps pull things from college and practical experience together.
All the above is done alongside my college course which has allowed me to develop a technical understanding of an Engineer’s role, including the Law, CDM Regs and Environment together with practical knowledge such as steel beams and forces that act on them.
