Job Title

     Site Manager

Course Completed

HNC in Civil Engineering and Construction

Place of Study

     Wigan and Leigh College

Qualification Upon Completion

     HNC

Start Date & Duration

     September 2006 to June 2018

I started as a chain lad (Assistant Engineer) at Airbus in 2006, whilst I attended college to study for my HNC, working with qualified engineers and taking on their input and experience in the field.

I continued for several years as a Site Engineer, working on sites in and around the North West for Murraywood who have actively encouraged me to progress my career and knowledge.  They give me the opportunity, under good Site Managers to supervise my own gangs on smaller jobs which again made me want to stay with the company and progress my upskilling, sitting my SMSTS and other courses that have helped me to be a confident Manager on the bigger jobs which I am now being given to oversee.

I have been a full Site Manager now for 4 years, assisting and encouraging the new recruits, young engineers and supervisors, working with and managing them together with subcontractors on larger projects.

I am currently undertaking my NVQ Level 6 in Site Management, something that I am finding interesting and worthwhile.  We are actively encouraged to liaise with others in the business undertaking the course and look to those who have more experience and time served for mentorship and help, which is always forthcoming.
