After finishing college in June, I joined Murraywood Construction in July 2017 as an Apprentice Administrator, completing my NVQ L2 in Business Administration.
Through this course, I gained more confidence in my role and in the working environment and was given support from all my new colleagues. Upon completion of my apprenticeship, I wanted to further my education. After research and discussions, Murraywood Construction agreed to enrol me onto a BA (Hons) Chartered Management / Business Professional Degree Apprenticeship and the Management Team at Murraywood have actively encouraged me to ask questions about things I don’t understand.
As a “fresh, out of college” student, I had no experience in construction before but with the support and guidance I receive from my colleagues I believe that I will be able to improve my construction knowledge further. The Site Managers and Supervisors are always happy to accompany me around site, explain to me what they are doing, this allows me to ensure that I get a good practical education and not just what I learn in the classroom. The same applies with my degree, made up of different units which relate to different departments within any business and my off site colleagues are just as proactive as the onsite, being constructive, mentoring, helping me source my own answers and outcomes whilst coaching me through anything I may struggle with. My first year is just finished and I genuinely look forward to moving forward in my education and career with Murraywood, they have invested in me as a person, they actually want me to succeed as much as I do and I look forward to learning more, specifically over the next three years to graduation, but also for years to come.
