Overview

Liverpool John Moores University added to its campus in 2018 to improve student life by commissioning the construction of a Student Life building and a Sports building.

The site was central to four roads in the heart of Liverpool: Copperas Hill, Brownlow Hill, Hawke Street and Russell Street.

It used to be home to the old Royal Mail building, but the same plot has also been home to factories and houses in the past.

What did we do?

On this project we did the enabling works in order to allow the site to progress which included us installing drainage and the site welfare, as well as a tarmac footpath and site car park.

On the main job we were appointed to complete the foundations which included us installing reinforced pile cap foundations and ground beams in the Student Life building and mass fill foundations and ring beam in the Sports Building.

We also put in drainage for surface water and foul systems, retaining walls, ramps and steps and constructed a lift pit.

Additionally we installed an excavation tank, slabs for the ground floor and upper floors which included a reduced level dig for ground floors and external works comprising of hard and soft landscaping.
