The Project
New Little Mill is a Manchester Life project situated in the Ancoats area of Manchester. The Grade Two-Listed building will be converted into 68 apartments, including a two storey extension onto the existing building, by Eric Wright Construction.
Scope
The scope of works is broken down into the following sections: –
Foundation Slab
A 500mm raft foundation slab will be poured in the basement of the building. An isolation joint will be fitted all round the perimeter of the basement between the new concrete and existing masonry wall. Old and new columns will also require an isolation joint. Steel reinforcement will be fitted including shears to spread the payload of the columns that will be fitted at a future date. The slab will be poured in four stages using C40 concrete pumped in from pavement level.
Lift Base
Cut out existing concrete slab and dig down to a level ready to accept raft style steel reinforcement. C40 concrete will be poured to a depth of 500mm. Plinths and walls will be formed using C40 waterproof concrete with steel reinforcement. This will support the steel frame of the lift shaft which will be fixed into plinths by using a resin anchor method.
